About Mary Louise

Mary Louise is trained in mindfulness, yoga, relaxation and *Focusing, which is a gentle yet powerful process of bringing kind, curious attention to our inner experience. Accredited by the British Focusing Association and the Mindfulness in Schools Programme, her work helps people access their own insight, wisdom and forward-moving energy when stuck or overwhelmed. She has also trained thousands of teachers, school staff, young people and parents in wellbeing techniques.

For children and teens, Mary Louise offers tailored support with issues including exam stress, social anxiety, confidence and digital distraction — using mindfulness, play, creativity and Focusing techniques. Schools that she has worked with include St Paul’s School for Boys, Lady Eleanor Hollis and Hampton Boys School.

Her work with adults includes supporting people through stress, anxiety, burnout and emotional reactivity using simple self-care and self-compassion practices rooted in neuroscience.

Companies and corporations that Mary Lou has given talks and workshops to include: Citibank, Rabobank, Deutsche Bank, the Mirror Group newspapers, Reuters and the Royal College of Nursing. She also trains adults specifically in anxiety and stress management techniques, by giving them tools to cope with life’s challenges.

Testimonials

“We could not have wished for a better person to help introduce mindfulness to St Paul’s; MaryLouise is knowledgeable, extremely reliable and really understands young people and their issues. This pilot will help us shape our longer term strategy for mental health and well-being at St Paul’s.” — Sam Madden -Head of Mental Health and Wellbeing St Pauls School for Boys

“Mary Lou’s mindfulness classes give you space, skills and a whole new perspective on how to deal with life, stress and the hundreds of everyday problems all of us face. A natural listener and teacher, she shares doable guilt-free techniques to combat those feelings of being overwhelmed. She can really help you change the way you live your life.” Heather Moody (Teacher and Parent)

“Mary Louise was part of our Winter Wellbeing programme at Reach Plc. She has a really calming effect on both adults and children and provides both groups with a lot of helpful and practical techniques to manage stress and anxiety. She is a pleasure to work with and I'd recommend her to other companies who have wellbeing at the forefront of their agenda”. Emma Cumming, HR Business Partner & Wellbeing Champion, Reach PLC, The Mirror Group Newspapers

“It was a powerfully soothing balm that gave our members some very practical tools and permissions to take care of themselves.” Wendy Irwin, Royal College of Nursing, Policy and Public Affairs

“Mary Lou is basically as goddess of calm. She gently shifts the focus on the way you look at things. There is no wrong with mindfulness, just accept it all and move on. Mary Lou’s sessions lasted way longer than the few hours a week, what she says stays in your head and what she does really helps. I would seriously recommend her. — Louise Gannon -Journalist
